The story of silk is fascinating. It links Macclesfield with China and the Far East and shaped the development of the town. The development of the silk industry in Macclesfield is told through an award-winning audio-visual programme, exhibitions, models and silk textiles and fashions. Just a short distance from the silk museum is Paradise Mill which is a living museum. The Jacquard handlooms have been restored and knowledgeable and entertaining guides, many of whom have worked in the industry, demonstrate the intricate production processes.
